Character of Prophet Muhammad

Forgiving

“The Prophet (PBUH) resembled a Prophet who was harmed by His people. He wiped the blood from His face and said: ‘O God! Forgive my people, for they know not!” (Bukhari)

Generous

The Prophet (PBUH) did not refuse to give anything which He had to someone if he asked for it.” (Bukhari)

Kind,  Merciful. Just

"Allah is only merciful with those who show mercy to others."Sahih Al-Bukhari
And:

"Be merciful to those on the earth, so the One above the heavens will be merciful to you."At-Tabarani and Al-Hakim

"He who does not show mercy to others, will not be shown mercy."Sahih Al-Bukhari
O people, spread peace, feed the hungry, and pray at night when people are sleeping and you will enter Paradise in peace. (Hadith)

Accustom yourselves to do good if people do good, and to not do wrong even if they commit evil.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

You will never have faith until you love each other. Shall I tell you what will make you love each other? They said, “Of course, O Messenger of Allah.” The Prophet said: Spread peace between yourselves. By the one in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you are merciful to others. They said, “O Messenger of Allah, all of us are merciful.” The Prophet said: Verily, it is not only mercy between yourselves, but rather it is mercy in general. (Hadith)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The best charity is that given to a relative who does not like you. (Hadith)

The one who keeps good relations is not the one who recompenses the good done to him. Rather, the one who keeps good relations is the one who does so despite having been cut off by them (Hadith)

I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) say: ‘Whoever has been denied kindness has been denied all goodness (Hadith)

Allah (S.W.T.) is Kind and loves kindness, and He rewards it in a way that He does not reward harshness, and in a way unlike any other. (Hadith)

The best of people are those that bring most benefit to the rest of mankind. (Hadith)

Do not think little of any good deed, even if it is just meeting your brother with a cheerful countenance. (Hadith)

QURAN:

(Verily Allah enjoins justice and the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, wickedness, and injustice and oppression. He admonishes you that you may take heed. [16:90]

"Then he became one of those who believed and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. They are those on the Right Hand (i.e. the dwellers of Paradise)."Al-Qur'an 90:17-18

"Show forgiveness, enjoin kindness and avoid ignorance (Quran 7:199)

You shall invite to the path of your Lord with wisdom and kind enlightenment, and debate with them in the best possible manner. (Quran)
Virtue and evil are not equal. If you replace evil habits by virtuous ones, you will certainly find that your enemies will become your intimate friends. (Quran)
And do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness.”(Quran)

Truthful

"The trait and characteristic which the Prophet (pbuh) hated most was lying. A man would tell a lie in the presence of the Prophet (pbuh) and he would hold it against him, until he knew that he repented." (Tirmidthi)

Modest

“Modesty is a part of teachings of the previous Prophets and anyone who lacks it is most likely to do whatever he likes.” (Reported by Abdullah ibn Maslamah)

Kind To The Kids

“I’ll give such and such (i.e. gift or so) to the one who comes to me first.”So they used to race and fall on His back and chest. (Ahmad)

Peace Lover
"Let us go to resolve the situation and make peace between them.”(Bukhari)

Considerate

“I stand up for prayer intending to prolong it. In the meantime I hear the wailing of a baby and I have to shorten my prayer, being apprehensive lest my recitation of a long verse may tell upon the baby’s mother.”(Bukhari)

"The Messenger of God (pbuh) performed Salah (prayer) while he was carrying an infant girl named Umaamah, daughter of Abul-Aas. When he bowed, he put her on the ground, and when he stood up, he would carry her again." (Bukhari #5650)

Gentle

Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Your duty is to be gentle and beware of harshness and bad words. (Bukhari)

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was never obscene, nor would he spread obscenity.
(Tirmidhi )

The believer does not taunt others, he does not curse others, he does not use profanity, and he does not abuse others. (At-Tirmidhi)

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When one of you awakes in the morning for fasting, then he should not use obscene language or behave ignorantly. If anyone slanders him or tries to argue with him, he should say twice: Indeed, I am fasting.

Care about women

“The best of you are those who are the best to their wives, and I am the best of you to my wives.”(al-Tirmidhi)

Narated By Abu Huraira : The Prophet said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt (trouble) his neighbor. And I advise you to take care of the women, for they are created from a rib and the most crooked portion of the rib is its upper part; if you try to straighten it, it will break, and if you leave it, it will remain crooked, so I urge you to take care of the women." (Bukhari)
Narrated by Anas bin Malik: The Prophet passed by a woman who was sitting and weeping beside a grave and said to her, “Fear Allah and be patient.”

Honour mothers greatly

A man came to the Prophet and said, ‘O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet (PBUH) said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your father. (Bukhari, Muslim)
A man once consulted the Prophet Muhammad about taking part in a military campaign. The Prophet asked the man if his mother was still living. When told that she was alive, the Prophet said: “(Then) stay with her, for Paradise is at her feet.” (Al-Tirmidhi)
On another occasion, the Prophet said: “God has forbidden for you to be undutiful to your mothers.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Concerned About Orphans

“The best house among the Muslims is one where an orphan is well treated, and the worst house among the Muslims is one where an orphan is badly treated.” (Ibn Majah)

Humorous
“Once a man asked Muhammad (PBUH) for an animal to ride. He replied that He would give him the baby of a she-camel to ride on. The man asked ‘What would he do with a she-camel baby?’ Muhammad (PBUH) replied, ‘Is there any camel which is not born of a she-camel?’ (Bukahri)

Care about animals

“I once found difficulty in riding a horse, so I kept reining it in repeatedly. The Prophet (PBUH) then said, ‘You must have gentleness.’” (Muslim)

Good appearance

“I have never seen a man who smiled as much as the Messenger of Allah.”(Tirmidhi)

“The Prophet (PBUH) was a person of average height. His shoulder were wide. His hair reached his earlobes. Once I saw Him adorned in a red garment; I never saw anything more beautiful than Him.” (Bukhari)

Narrated Al-Bara Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was the handsomest of all the people, and had the best appearance. He was neither very tall nor short. (Bukhari)

Moderation
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) once asked a companion: "(Is it true) that you fast all day and stand in prayer all night?" The companion replied that the report was indeed true. The Prophet then said: "Do not do that! Observe the fast sometimes and also leave (it) at other times. Stand up for prayer at night and also sleep at night. Your body has a right over you, your eyes have a right over you and your wife has a right over you." - Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Hadith 127
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately. . .Always adopt a middle, moderate, regular course, whereby you will reach your target (of paradise)."

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “O people, beware of extremism in religion for those who came before you were only destroyed because of extremism in religion.” (Source: Sunan ibn Majah 3029)

Make easy not hard

Narrated Abu Huraira: A Bedouin stood up and started making water in the mosque. The people caught him but the Prophet ordered them to leave him and to pour a bucket or a tumbler of water over the place where he had passed the urine. The Prophet then said, “You have been sent to make things easy and not to make them difficult.” (Bukhari)

Respectful & Non-racist

Qais ibn Sa’d reported: A funeral passed by the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he stood up. It was said to him, “It is a Jew.” The Prophet said, “Was he not a soul?” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1250, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 961)

Aisha reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away while his armor was mortgaged to a Jew for thirty units of barley. (Sahih Bukhari 2759, Sahih Muslim 1603)

Do not fight for himself

“He never struck anybody with his hand, neither a servant nor a women, but he did fight (jihad) in the cause of Allah. He never avenged any wrong done to him personally, but he did avenge a wrong violating divine commandments.” (Muslim)

QURAN

Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory. [They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah ." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.

Hoping for Goodness, Even for his Enemies

‘I asked the Messenger of God (pbuh): "Did you face a day harder and more intense than the Battle of Uhud?‛ He replied: ‘I suffered a lot from your people! The worst I suffered was on the Day of al-’Aqabah when I spoke to Ali b. Abd Yaleel b. Abd Kilaal (in order to support me) but he disappointed me and left me. I left the area while I was quite worried, and walked - when I reached an area called Qarn ath-Tha’alib, I raised my head to the sky and noticed a cloud that shaded me. Gabriel (pbuh) called me and said: ‘O Muhammad! God, the Exalted, has heard what your people have said to you - and has sent the Angel in charge of the mountains, so you can command him to do what you please.’ The Prophet (pbuh) said: ‘The Angel in charge of the mountains called me saying: ‘May God praise you and keep safe from all evil! O Muhammad, I will do whatever you command me to do. If you like I can bring the Akh-shabain mountains together and crush them all.’ The Messenger of God (pbuh) said: ‘It may be that God raises from among them a progeny who worship God alone and associate no partners with Him.’ (Bukhari )

Peaceful

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Do not wish for an encounter with the enemy. Pray to Allah to grant you safety; (but) when you encounter them, show patience." (Hadith)

QURAN

If they leave you alone, refrain from fighting you, and offer you peace, then GOD gives you no excuse to fight them (Quran)

Do not say to one who offers you peace, "You are not a believer," seeking the spoils of this world. For GOD possesses infinite spoils. Remember that you used to be like them, and GOD blessed you. (Quran)

But if the enemies incline towards peace, do you also incline towards peace. And trust in God! For He is the one who hears and knows all things. (Quran)

Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them KINDNESS and deal with them JUSTLY; surely Allah loves the doers of justice. (Quran)

Protect other people. Pro Multiculture

The Prophet of Mercy said: Beware! Whosoever oppresses a Muahid (i.e. Non-Muslim living in Muslim land with agreement) or snatches (any of) his rights or causes him pain which he cannot bear, or takes anything from him without his permission, Then “I WILL FIGHT AGAINST SUCH A (MUSLIM) ON THE DAY OF JUDGEMENT” Abu Dawud 3052

The Prophet said: If any Muslim killed a Muahid (i.e. non-Muslim living in Muslim land with agreement) then he (Muslim) shall not even smell the fragrance of Paradise. (Bukhari 2995)

“This is a message from Muhammad, son of Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them. Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them. No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims’ houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God’s covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate. No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray. Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation of (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world). (Prophet Muhammad Convenant)

QURAN

O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ (Quran)

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah , lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do (Quran)

O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise each other). Verily, the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you (Quran)

If it had been your Lord’s will, all of the people on Earth would have believed. Would you then compel the people so to have them believe?” (Quran)

Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in God hath grasped the most trustworthy hand- hold, that never breaks. And God heareth and knoweth all things.

Selling, Trading, Debt. Islamic Way.

There are many hadiths on selling, trading, and, debt. including:

"May Allah have mercy on the man who is generous when he buys, sells, and demands (his due)" [Bukhari]

Makhramah Al-'Abdi and I procured some drapery from Hajar and brought them to Makkah. The Prophet (ﷺ) came and bargained with us for some trousers and we sold them to him. We had a person who weighed the cloth in order to fix the price. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to him, "Weigh and add a little to it."

The Prophet (ﷺ) purchased a camel from me and weighed more than its price.

"The truthful, honest merchant is with the prophets and the truthful ones and the martyrs."

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "There was a person who used to loan money to the people and he used to say to his servant: 'When an insolvent person comes to you, show him leniency so that Allah may forbear our faults.' So when he met Allah (i.e., when he died), Allah forgave him."

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "A person from amongst the people who lived before you was called to account by Allah on the Day of Resurrection. No good deeds were found in his credit except that he being a rich man had (financial) dealings with people and had commanded his servants to show leniency to those who were in straitened circumstances. Upon this Allah, the Exalted, and Majestic said: 'I am more entitled to this attribute, so waive (his faults)."'

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who gives respite to someone who is in straitened circumstances, or grants him remission, Allah will shelter him in the shade of His Throne, on the Day of Resurrection, when there will be no shade except its shade."

A man demanded of the Prophet (ﷺ) for repayment of a loan and was harsh to him. His Companions were about to attack him, but he (ﷺ) said, "Leave him, as the creditor is entitled to make a demand. Give him a camel of the same age as the camel that is due to him." They said: "We find a better camel senior to it in age." He (ﷺ) said, "Then buy it and give it to him; verily the best of you is the one who is the best in discharging his obligations (repayment of loans)."

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "May Allah show mercy to a man who adopts a kind attitude when he sells, buys and demands for the repayment of loans."

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who likes Allah to deliver him from the calamities of the Day of Resurrection, let him either give respite to a debtor or grant him remission (of loans) in straitened circumstances."

Although relieving debts for those in hardship is encouraged, not paying debt is a big NO

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah forgives every sin of a martyr, except his debt."

Oh, PS: Prophet Muhammad did business with Jews.

The Prophet (ﷺ) purchased food grains from a Jew on credit and mortgaged his iron armor to him.

Anas went to the Prophet (ﷺ) with barley bread having some dissolved fat on it. The Prophet (ﷺ) had mortgaged his armor to a Jew in Medina and took from him some barley for his family.

ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF SELF DEFENSE and It's not exclusively for faith

That's right folks.
ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF SELF DEFENSE and it's not exclusively for faith

I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: "He who dies while defending his property is a martyr; he who dies in defence of his own life is a martyr; and he who dies on defense of his faith is a martyr, he who dies in defence of his family is a martyr (Hadith)

Even defending property (not just faith) can be considered as act of heroism

A man came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What shall I do if someone comes to me with the intention of taking away my property?" He replied, "Do not hand over it to him." The man asked, "What shall I do if he fights me?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Then fight him." "What will be my position in the Hereafter if he has killed me?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied, "In that case you are a martyr." The man asked: "What if I killed him?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied, "He will be in the Hell- fire." (Hadith)

Why, cause Islam extremely honour one's right and rights of the others.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Allah forgives every sin of a martyr, except his debt."

And yet, there are those who still questions, is Islam an offensive religion?? Read:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Do not wish for an encounter with the enemy. Pray to Allah to grant you safety; (but) when you encounter them, show patience." (Hadith)

(Quran)

If Islam offensive and barbaric as hate-mongers accuse, why would Islam promote peace, just, kindness?

Virtue and evil are not equal. If you replace evil habits by virtuous ones, you will certainly find that your enemies will become your intimate friends. (Quran)

(Verily Allah enjoins justice and the doing of good, and liberality to kith and kin, and He forbids all shameful deeds, wickedness, and injustice and oppression. He admonishes you that you may take heed. (Quran)

O people, spread peace, feed the hungry, and pray at night when people are sleeping and you will enter Paradise in peace. (Hadith)

Accustom yourselves to do good if people do good, and to not do wrong even if they commit evil.” (Hadith)

And do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness.”(Quran)

Do not say, that if the people do good to us, we will do good to them; and if the people oppress us, we will oppress them; but determine that if people do you good, you will do good to them; and if they oppress you, you will not oppress them" (Prophet Muhammad)

Really, media, hate-mongers can do great things in turning people's perspective.
But as the Quran says:

But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners. (Quran)
